As a real estate agent, your newsletter reaches people from all walks of life. Some are numbers people. Some are visual learners. Most are busy and scrolling fast. Your content needs to capture attention quickly, keep readers engaged, and make complex data easy to understand — all at the same time.
So how do you take a dense, national Canadian construction cost report — pages of financial data and technical specs — and turn it into something your audience actually wants to look at?
Here's how we did it.
Start With Something Everyone Understands
We started with a house. Specifically, a 2,000 sq. ft. single-family home — the kind of home most people can picture. That's the anchor. It gives the data a real-world subject that anyone can relate to.
Add Geography to Create Meaning
Next, we added cities. Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Montreal. Now your reader isn't just looking at abstract numbers — they're comparing their city to others. That geographical reference instantly creates context, comparison, and conversation.
Layer in the Cost
For each city, we added the 2025 construction cost to build that same 2,000 sq. ft. home. Simple and direct. Your reader can immediately see that building in Vancouver costs $640,000 while the same home in Montreal comes in at $410,000.
Show the Trend
To add another level of insight, we brought in a timeframe. By including last year's cost alongside this year's, we calculated the percentage increase or decrease for each city. Now your reader isn't just seeing a snapshot — they're seeing a trend. Calgary and Edmonton are up 3.8%. Toronto is down 3.6%. That's a story.
Make It Visual
To keep the design engaging, we illustrated the cost with piles of gold bricks — styled to look like construction bricks. The size of each pile is scaled to represent the cost of building in that city. We organized the cities from highest to lowest cost, so the visual progression reinforces the data at a glance.
The Result
We converted long, technical PDF documents into a visual story — one that's ready to be delivered through your newsletter and shared on social media. For the detail-oriented readers in your database, we include active links to download the full source report.
That's the Real Info Box process: take the data your clients care about, and tell the story in a way they'll actually read.
